Send a Kid To Camp - Donate $20 to the Hamilton Spectator Summer Camp Fund

Crackling campfires. Canoeing. Silly science experiments. Frog hunting. If any of those things conjure up fond memories of your youth, chances are you’ve been fortunate enough to go to summer camp. Help a child in need build those same memories with today's WagJag, requesting donations to the Hamilton Spectator Summer Camp Fund: make a $20 donation to the fund and receive a $5 credit towards future WagJag purchases.

The camp experience is about more than just fun—it’s about discovering new things, building self-esteem, making new connections and feeling part of the community. Since 1898, The Hamilton Spectator Summer Camp Fund has been providing those experiences to kids who would otherwise not have the chance. More than 100,000 kids have gone to summer camp thanks to their funding efforts. This year, WagJag is offering extra incentive in the form of a credit for anyone who can help send a kid to camp. The Hamilton Spectator is also providing a company match to help generate more support for such a great cause.

Note that every $40 received can send one child to camp for a day; every $200 received is enough to send a child to camp for a full week.

The Hamilton Spectator Summer Camp Fund covers the cost of both day and overnight camp experiences for children whose families could not otherwise afford them. The fund is part of SpecKids Unlimited, the umbrella for all of the Hamilton Spectator’s philanthropic activities, including Change Challenge, the Jeff Dickins Memorial Award and Kids in the Community, our employee-driven initiative. SpecKids was launched in November 2006 as part of the Hamilton Spectator’s anti-poverty initiative. Simply put, they believe every child should be given every possible opportunity to reach his or her true potential.
