Golf Getaway Essentials
What NOT to Forget
By Lauren Michaelov

Packing for a standard vacation is hard enough. Packing for a golf getaway? Now that requires some serious expertise. If you don't want to find yourself renting golf clubs or drinking from the course pond, then check out our list below for the top items to remember when packing for your getaway.
Sunglasses
A must-have on sunny days. Anybody looks like a pro in the right pair of shades!
Golf Gloves
If you don't want your clubs slipping through your hands and landing you a lawsuit, then these guys are pretty important. Nothing says "This isn't my first time golfing" like a sleek pair of gloves!
Plenty of Balls and Tees
Guestimate how many rounds you'll be playing, and pack accordingly. And if you're notorious for going "squirrel hunting," you may you may want to throw in a few extra.
Rain and Wind Gear
The weather can change in a jiffy. Being prepared for a breeze, sunshine and a light rain shower will ensure nothing ruins your game (except perhaps your rusty swing).
Golf Shoes
Another obvious one, but seriously.... are you going to go barefoot? And we're guessing you won't feel like dishing out on a new pair when your fave cleats are sitting at home.
Golf Towel (or two)
Whether you're a heavy sweater or a gentle perspirer, be a doll and wipe your sweat. It doesn't smell great, and the glare is hurting our eyes.
Lots of Layers
Layers are key! T-shirts, long sleeves and sweaters all mean that you can be cozy when it's chilly, and then have the option to remove some layers if you want to work on your golfer's tan. Just make sure the bulk doesn't affect your swing!
Snacks and Fluids
We know we sound like your momma with this one, but throw a protein bar and a bottle of water in your bag and you won't be sorry. It's easy to get dehydrated on the course and we've got to make sure you have energy during practice if you're going to make it to the Masters, right?
Divot Tool
The easiest way to earn respect from your fellow golfers is to repair your divots with a divot tool. It's simple to use and cheap to buy. Just pack it and forget it.
Clubs
Duh. If you're stuck renting from the course, you could find yourself golfing with rusty, dated clubs or a mix-and-match set. Stick to what you know and remember your clubs.
Now, these were just the golf getaway essentials, but of course this list isn't exhaustive! You may also want to pack a hat, some socks, perhaps a few pairs of clean underwear, and a pair of those kooky John Daly pants to stand out and look fantastic on the course. Other than that, consider yourself covered.
